When Jesus Gets A Job

Think about some of the most successful business moguls, entrepreneurs, innovators, creatives, and influencers in your time.

Oprah. Steve Jobs. Michael Jackson. Warren Buffett. Barack Obama.

Think about what missions typically looks like around the world.

Evangelism. Vacation Bible School. English Lessons. Serving in 3rd World Nations

Now think about your job, your co-workers, your boss … you

I wonder what it would look like if Jesus got a job?

I can’t help but think that He would be a game changer and a major influencer. He would be a servant leader of moral integrity and high character.  He would be diligent and hard working. He would lead others to Christ by being a light that people naturally gravitate to. His co-workers would always want to be on His team, because when they work with Him, they’d feel valued, important, respected, and included.

Wouldn’t you want to work in an environment like that? Wouldn’t you want to be led by someone like that? Leading like Jesus isn’t reserved for the standard 5 fold ministry.

At Adventures in Missions, we believe that every believer is called to be Jesus to the people around them. Whether you are a pastor, a missionary, a school teacher, or a corporate CEO – once you’ve accepted Christ, you have been commissioned to make disciples, spread the gospel, and change the world.  The means and the method in which you bring about this change varies, of course, based on the environment that the Lord has placed you in.

Far too often, we tend to limit the work of a missionary to that of a Mother Theresa-esque nature – feeding the poor, praying for the sick, teaching in church; but servanthood can take place in board rooms and think tanks, and so can discipleship.

If Jesus got a job today, He wouldn’t merely be a Christian at work; He would redefine “missions work” for all of us.

And this is the purpose of The Fellowship.

The Fellowship exists to equip future leaders with tools, resources, and confidence necessary for the realization of their Kingdom potential in the workforce. With a focus on professional and leadership development, The Fellowship helps high capacity developing leaders translate a kingdom lifestyle into the workplace under mentorship and guidance in the context of healthy community.

Before we send a missions team or a missionary family overseas for an extended period of time, we train them, coach them, and prepare them for what they can expect to encounter — why wouldn’t we do the same for our missionaries in the school buildings and office parks right around the corner?

How would your world be different if the decision makers and leaders around you focused more on servant leadership, selfless ambition, and making Jesus famous?

I believe that Christ has called us to be the head, which doesn’t necessarily mean living with abundance, but leading by example. However, no one wants to follow someone who doesn’t have their act together, so natural success (to some extent) is important.

I believe that businessmen and business women, scientists, politicians, educators, artists, and entertainers can be missionaries. Their mission fields may look a little different, but as a body we are all called to one mission, and we are expected to support one another in that mission.

I encourage you to support the efforts of The Fellowship and the change that we hope to bring through the training and discipleship of Adventures Fellows. I challenge you to believe in a world where Jesus not only exists in the pulpit, but also in front of a computer screen. I implore you to not limit His reach with expectations of what ministry should look like.

If you believe, like me, in the furthering of the Gospel through unconventional (yet successful) means, I am asking that you would please support me and the work that I am doing in designing a program that sends Jesus into the workplace.

What if we no longer had to wonder what it would look like for Jesus to have a job …

I am looking for monthly supporters to partner with me and the work that I’m doing with The Fellowship.

As a program partner, you will play a significant role in the development of these future leaders as the money raised will go towards leadership conferences, team building and training, curriculum development, quality coaching, and intentional networking.  You will also receive a first-hand account of how your contribution is impacting the lives of Fellows who go through this program.

In order to bring the lift and excellence that I desire, I am hoping to have $1500 in monthly contributions. Currently at $400 in monthly commitments, I am a little shy of this goal! Please prayerfully consider being a monthly contributor at whatever financial level that you feel led to commit to. If you would like to become a partner, please do so by setting up your monthly donations account at the following link:
