Changing The World – One Life At A Time

When I worked in the for-profit industry, I found opportunities to give to multiple efforts – mostly because I couldn’t land on one thing that I wanted to support – but also because I really enjoy being involved in the lives of other people. (I’m an ESFJ personality type. By definition ESFJs love to be of service, enjoying any role that allows them to participate in a meaningful way, so long as they know that they are valued and appreciated.)  This was very evident in my life, whether it was serving in my church, coordinating gift drives and baby showers for families who are less fortunate, fostering abandoned and abused dogs, or sponsoring friends’ mission trips, all I knew was that I deeply cared. I cared about loving and serving others, regardless of how it looked.

It’s interesting that now, even though I no longer work in the for-profit sector, I still have just as much of an opportunity as before to give to multiple good causes, although on the surface it looks a little different. I no longer have the time or the resources to physically partake in the things that I would like to, but what I DO have is the chance to play an integral role in the lives of young adults within my direct realm of influence. This opportunity currently exists in the form of The Fellowship!

During the 2nd week of The Fellowship semester, I listened to 3 presentations given by 11 Fellows highlighting their ideas for programs allowing us to better serve and love the world around us. These amazing leaders floored me with their responses to a challenge: given 2 days and a team of people whom they’d just met, they had to combine individual passions to cast vision for a new program that would meet multiple needs and serve multiple purposes. With well planned and articulated ideas to provide equipment for traveling missionaries, train and disciple college aged students, and use the transformation stories of previously incarcerated individuals to transform the body of Christ; I saw my investment opportunity come to life before my eyes.

Having the same passion to bring hope and love to the world, I’m able to give towards many amazing and worthy causes that will do this everyday! With our commitment to train and mobilize radically committed disciples who passionately lead and love others, I am confident that the seeds we plant here multiply and produce amazing fruit around the world.

I love serving the vision of Adventures in Missions, and I definitely love developing future leaders who will go on to create even more ways for us to love our neighbors. I’ve only been with this class for a short time, but I am full of excitement for what will be accomplished in the next 5 months with them. I get to be a part of their story, and I get to share their stories with you. When you invest in the dreams of others, you’re not limited to your own time or resources, but you get to partner with others in changing the world – one life at a time.
